P. Jindal Global University is the programme on Utility\nRegulations and Strategy for Regulatory Bodies of India, currently being\nconducted by Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education\n(JILDEE). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A first of its\nkind in India, the programme aims to strategize the many challenges of\ninfrastructure development and regulations present for the regulatory agencies\nand service providers. The course is designed to enhance economic, financial\nand strategic skills of the senior utility regulators and regulatory\nstrategists from around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about the initiative Professor\n(Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor 91Ì½»¨\nsaid, \u201cThe programme on Utility Regulations and Strategy for Regulatory Bodies\nof India is truly unique as it is the first time that a comprehensive and\ncombined programme has been designed and is being delivered to all major\nregulators in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Kumar further stated, \u201cWhile the\nlast few years&nbsp;of&nbsp;JILDEE&#8217;s work has been stellar, we need to work towards&nbsp;expanding\nand&nbsp;deepening these&nbsp;programmes. The opportunity to train the various\ncivil services in India and most recently in Afghanistan is truly phenomenal.\nOur work relating to training is very critical as we are making a profound\nimpact on different aspects of governance within India and overseas. This is a\nvery&nbsp;important way by which we are&nbsp;contributing to nation building.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The six day\nprogramme is structured to encompass subjects like Rationale for Economic\nRegulations, Tariffs and Compensations, Mergers and Acquisitions, Competition\nPolicy and Safe Guards and Best Practices in Regulatory Oversight etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 20\nparticipants are drawn from various government organizations like SEBI, AERA,\nPNGRB, CERC, TRAI and CAG. This course is unique in the sense that these types\nof courses are only run in universities abroad at UK and USA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rahul Gunwant\nKelapure, a visually impaired officer from SEBI who is attending the course\nwhile speaking on the quality of the programme said, \u201cAll other trainings that I\nhave done previously were related to my area of regulation that is securities\nand finance, this is different and unique as it has given me an opportunity to\nunderstand the perceptions of other regulators in the country as well as\nunderstand how they perceive us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Kelapure was\nreally appreciative of the support being given to him by JILDEE \u201cEverybody has\nbeen very sensitive and understanding of my needs, adaptions done specifically\nfor me are non-excessive and non-judgmental, even soft copies of all notes have\nbeen converted to braille and made available for me. The JILDEE officers have\nbeen truly exceptional in their management.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lt Gen Rajesh Kochhar (retd), Director\nJILDEE maintained that \u201cJILDEE seeks to draw the intellectual resources\navailable at the JGU in collaboration with its academic partners to promote\nleadership development and capacity building at the highest level of decision\nmaking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JILDEE has\nestablished an institutional framework to provide training, capacity building,\nexecutive education, continuing education, and leadership and management\ndevelopment programmes for a broad range of individuals and institutions in\ngovernment agencies, public sector organizations, corporations, non-government\norganisations, intergovernmental organisations and various government\ndepartments in India and beyond.
