The key themes of\nthe leadership summit included Political Leadership, Civil Society Leadership\nand Business Leadership, and core discussions centered on ethical leadership,\nwomen empowerment in civil society, talent management, role of cultural and\neducation relations leadership in global diplomacy, architecting to manage\nbusiness complexity among others. The event brought together nineteen\noutstanding scholars, intellectuals and researchers, both from India and abroad\nto debate and deliberate upon the said topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor (Dr.) C. Raj\nKumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, 91Ì½»¨, delivered a\nspecial inaugural address at the forum and spoke on India and different parts\nof the world facing a leadership crisis in different spheres of society,\nbusiness and governance. Called for a more nuanced understanding of the issues\nand challenges being faced, he said, \u201cOne of the most difficult challenges we\nface today is a leadership crisis in all aspects of life, The issue of\nleadership is central to the future of governance itself and therefore it is\nimperative for experts and institutions in the world to come together and\ndiscuss these issues\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni,\nDirector, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) and Centre for\nLeadership and Change delivered the welcome address at the conference, he said,\n\u201cWe are delighted to welcome stalwarts from industry and academia from around\nthe world here today, and are hopeful that your discussion and deliberations at\nthis inaugural summit will provide a great opportunity to discuss ways in which\ninvestments in leadership, human capital and entrepreneurial innovation will\ncontribute to the development of a strong, sustainable leadership system in\nsociety at large.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Rajeev Bhadauria, Director Group-HR, Jindal\nSteel &amp; Power Ltd, delivered a special address at the conclave, he spoke on\nthe continual cycle of change and its impact on businesses, he said, \u201cChange or\ncontinual change has become the business driver of today, parameters within and\noutside the organization are not changing sequentially but simultaneously,\ntherefore the magnitude and complexity of change has become unmanageable. We\nneed to evolve in this kind of an era, that is hyper connected and inter linked\nand what needs to be changed is our concept of leadership.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was aimed at debating and helping\nin creating ideas and solutions in instilling a strong sense of leadership in\nindividuals in the present times of crisis. The world\u2019s pre-eminent thought\nleaders and academics convened from over seven countries to evaluate critical\nissues and to introspect into the best practices, in an international backdrop\nat the Leadership Summit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting the importance of ethics in the\nfirst session on Political Leadership, Dr. Lorraine Dyke, Associate Dean, MBA\nPrograms, Professor Management and Strategy, Carleton University, Canada, said,\n\u201cEthical leadership is one of the most important predictors of police integrity\nand commitment\u201d \u201cVisibly ethical leaders serve as role models and help\nestablish a culture where Integrity is encouraged.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While, Richard Everitt, Director Education,\nBritish Council India, emphasized the importance of creating transformational\nworking environments within an educational setting that can promote and nurture\nproductive working-relationships and contribute to the success of institution\nbuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness Complexity is real and a leader should\nbe able to solve complexities both by simplifying and by managing complexities\nor doing both\u201d, said, Professor Djoko Wintro, Dean, Prasetiya Mulya Business\nSchool, Indonesia, while delivering his address on Business Leadership:\nArchitecting to manage business complexity.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting the ideals of leadership and\nimportance of empowering women in civil society, Thilini DeSilva, Lecturer,\nNational Institute of Business Management, Colombo, said, &#8220;What a modern\nleader requires is a blend of intellectual qualities, the ability to think\nanalytically, strategically and creatively accompanied with traits like\nself-awareness, empathy and humility. I believe, women leaders are more\npersuasive and adapt well to adversity. They demonstrate an inclusive, team\nbuilding and problem solving leadership style which is the need of the\nhour.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other distinguished speakers at the\nconference included Dr. Bernard Heim, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Kaizen\nLearning Expert, German University of Technology in Oman, Dr. Terry Motiuk,\nVice Chancellor, Abu Dhabi University and Professor Djoko Wintoro, Dean,\nPrasetiya Mulya Business School, Indonesia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day two of the Inaugural Management fest,\ntitled, \u2018Samplava\u2019, was designed as a business and cultural extravagance, a\nsynergy of music, entertainment, food, and dance amid discussions on a variety\nof business subjects. The entire event was conceptualized and spearheaded by a\nteam of students from the business school of the university under the aegis of\nDr. Shilpi Sharma, Director (CLC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About Centre for\nLeadership and Change <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre for Leadership and Change aims to\ndevelop and foster research activities in the field of leadership and change\nand train and develop young leaders.
