Raj Kumar, said, \u201cToday\u2019s\nglobal economy rewards people who can traverse borders, understand cultures and\noperate in an international context and our new BBA programme is designed to\nequip students to meet those needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe curriculum of the new BBA programme has been designed\nkeeping in view the thinking skills which young generation needs today along\nwith the managerial potential that is needed to run a business, accompanied\nwith generous practical training and industry focus, this programme aims to\nmake students proficient in using software tools, processes and best practices\nthat they will need to succeed in the business world.\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Yogesh Kumar, General Manager, Operations, BHEL,\ndelivered the inaugural address on behalf of Mr. Atul Sobti, Chairman and\nManaging Director, BHEL who was the guest of honour on the occasion. He listed\nfive key enablers needed for the success of the \u2018Make in India\u2019 initiative,\nwhich if put in place, would change the face and image on the nation across the\nglobe. He described these five critical areas as; Deep and committed focus on\ninnovation, research and development, adapting world class technology,\nsupporting growth and development of entrepreneurs, create skilled manpower and\nchampion the cause of domestic driven manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further stressed on creating a large number of programmes\nsimilar to the \u2018Make in India\u2019, campaign, and said, \u201cManufacturing is\nfundamental to growth and development of our country, it is the engine of\neconomic growth.&nbsp; The former years have\nseen GDP stagnating at 13-14% and there is no escaping this fact. What is\nneeded is to significantly increase manufacturing in the country which will\nlead to an increase in employment and subsequently lead to strengthening our\nGDP.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Arbind Prasad, Director General, Federation of Indian\nChambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), described the merits of a zero\ndefect approach, a measure he described as the key to success in his keynote\naddress, he said, \u201cThe key route to success necessitates following a zero\ndefect approach. The zero effect approach is focused on sustainability of\ndevelopment, optimal use of energy and water which are critical areas for\nmanufacturing development, whereas zero defect essentially means, the country\nshould focus on producing world class products.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe success of \u2018Make in India\u2019 initiative which seeks\nglobal opportunities will largely depend on the approach we follow\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dean Professor C. Gopinath emphasized that the unique three\nyear BBA Programme with industry focus is structured to provide essential\nbusiness management courses to hit the ground running from the first day of the\njob. Core courses are designed to give a broad knowledge of the functional\nareas with specializations in Entrepreneurship and Family Business, Hospitality\nManagement and Banking and Insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His discussion highlighted that the courses contain an\nappropriate mix of theory and practice that will the help the students to keep\npace with the changing business environment.
