Pe\u00f1alver, Dean of\nCornell Law School and (Dr) C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU in New\nDelhi today.<br>\nThis is the first time in the history of the eight Ivy League law schools in\nthe USA (Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, and\nUniversity of Pennsylvania) that an international partnership of this magnitude\nand significance has been established with any law school outside of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\nThe dual degree programme opens up a number of exciting opportunities for JGLS\nstudents. This will enable students to get access to and learn from the top-notch\nand renowned law professors in Cornell University Law School. JGLS students\nsecuring a JD degree in Cornell University Law School will also be eligible to\ntake the American Bar Exam as well as sit in for campus recruitments taking\nplace in Cornell Law School.<br>\n<br>\nThe partnership comes to force with immediate effect and the first batch of\nJGLS students to Cornell Law School will be eligible to start in the Fall 2018.\nJGLS students who are in the fourth year of the five-year law programme and in\nthe second year of the three-year LL.B. programme at JGLS are eligible to\napply.<br>\n<br>\nProfessor (Dr) C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU and the Founding Dean\nof Jindal Global Law School speaking on the occasion said, \u201cIn a globalized\nworld where legal practice and transaction are increasingly cross-border in\nnature, any first hand exposure to global high quality teaching and legal\ntraining would go a long way in shaping the careers of law school students. A\nhigher education degree which helps build a strong foundation in academic\nfundamentals and at the same time provides the required skills and knowledge\nnecessary to compete in a global marketplace is needed.\u201d<br>\n<br>\nEduardo M. Pe\u00f1alver, Dean of Cornell Law School said, \u201cCornell Law School is\nexcited by this new collaboration with one of the finest law schools in the\nworld\u2019s largest democracy. We look forward to welcoming Jindal\u2019s superb\nstudents to our JD program\u201d.<br>\n<br>\nProfessor Sital Kalantry, Clinical Professor of Law, Cornell Law School said,\n\u201cIn today\u2019s world the work of lawyers is increasingly transnationally.\n&nbsp;The Cornell-Jindal program is training lawyers to be successful in an\nincreasingly global world where transactions and disputes occurs across\nmultiple boundaries. We look forward to providing an exciting learning\nexperience to the students, significantly adding to their skills and positively\nshaping their law careers.\u201d<br>\nJindal Global University has a long association with Cornell Law School. In\n2011 both the Universities came together to sign a MoU to establish a flexible\nframework for academic collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\nIn the year 2012, A Case Study of the Citizen Participation Clinic was\nconducted jointly by Cornell International Human Rights Clinic and Jindal Good\nRural Governance and Citizen Participation Clinic \u2013 This report encouraged the\ndevelopment of robust clinical legal education programs in India. It was a\njoint class taught by Professor Sital Kalantry via videoconference at Jindal\nGlobal Law School in Sonipat, India and Cornell Law School in Ithaca, N.Y. from\nJanuary to April 2012.<br>\n<br>\nDean of Cornell Law School, Professor Eduardo Pe\u00f1alver and Professor Sital\nKalantry have been delivering lectures on several occasions at JGU. Professor\nEduardo Pe\u00f1alver spoke on \u2018\u2018Civil Rights and Exclusion in Property Law\u2019\u2019 at JGU\ncampus in 2012. The robust relationship between two Universities saw many\nStudent Exchange programmes, International Immersion Programmes and\ncollaborative research projects being undertaken. In the year 2015, a policy\npaper on \u201cIndia&#8217;s Human Trafficking Laws and Policies and the UN Trafficking\nProtocol: Achieving Clarity\u201d was jointly carried under the aegis of Centre for\nHealth Law, Ethics &amp; Technology, Rights Clinic of Jindal Global Law School;\nInternational Human Rights Clinic of Cornell Law School and International Human\nRights Clinic of the University of Chicago Law School.<br>\n<br>\nCornell Law School is based in the Cornell University, a private Ivy League\nuniversity located in Ithaca, New York. It is one of the eight Ivy League law\nschools and offers three law degree programs (J.D., LL.M., and J.S.D.) along\nwith several dual-degree programs in conjunction with other professional\nschools at the university.
