Theme: Why Our Legal System Needs Super Lawyers <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New\nDelhi, 8th<\/sup> March 2019: <\/strong>Super lawyers are the need\nof the future. This is the view that got echoed at Lex Concurcus<\/strong>, the\nannual conference of Jindal Global Law school. The conference, organized at\nIndia Habitat Centre by the Office of Career Services was based on the theme:\nWhy our Legal System Needs Super Lawyers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Explaining the theme in his welcome speech, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice\nChancellor, O.P Jindal Global University<\/strong> said, \u201cIn this time of innovative\ntechnology and artificial intelligence, the future of the Indian Judiciary\nsystem lies on the hands of super lawyers. In the lines of George Bernard Shaw,\nI say, the super lawyer is indeed the ideal super person who rises above the good\nand evil through the integrity and creativity.\u201d He also encouraged the budding\nlawyers present to broaden their spectrum as legal system now consists not only\nof classical lawyers, but legal entrepreneurs too, having corporate legal firms\nof their own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The forum deliberated on how the future of the\nlegal system is shaping up through the impact of technology and innovations and\nwhat the budding lawyers need to do about it. Pavan Duggal, Founder, Pavan Duggal Associates & Head, Artificial\nIntelligence Law Hub<\/strong> sounded hopeful about the quantum jump the judiciary\nsystem will be taking in the next ten years. According to him, \u201cWith Artificial\nIntelligence (AI), block chain and Internet of Things (IoT) changing the world\naround, the judiciary is bound to evolve dramatically by 2030. And so will be\nthe demand of service from lawyers. With all the information and technological\nsupport at hand, the client will already have the data analysis and insights.\nThey would require lawyers to guide them through it and provide necessary\nsupport. Hence the future lawyers need to be super lawyers who will be analyst,\nbroadcaster and lawyer, all rolled into one.\u201d In his speech, Badrinath Durvasula, Vice President &\nGeeneral Counsel, HCC Ltd <\/strong>defined super lawyers as the ones who deliver\nwhat they commit, with perfection. Talking about the natures of the executive,\nlegislator, judiciary and regulator segments of the system, he advised \u201cThe\nwould-be lawyers will now have to be \u2018Jack of all as well as masters of all\u2019\nwho can win through the survival of the fittest in this era of invention,\ninnovation and realization.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The next session that followed, was the panel\ndiscussion on \u201cPrivacy is a fundamental right? \u2013 In the era of big data\u2019. Among\nthe panelists, Bharat Chugh, Partner\nDesignate, L&L Partners<\/strong> reminded how the privacy of consumers are being\ncompromised as the big data and algorithm are being used in every sphere to get\ninsights, take business decisions, make recruitments and provide goods and services.\nWhile Dhruv Suri, Partner, PSA <\/strong>talked\nabout how social media and voice assistants are picking up information from\npeople and sharing them with third party companies. \u201cThe recent data protection\nbill needs to be made into a proper legislation to address this breach of\nprivacy,\u201d he feels. Jaideep Reddy,\nLeader, Nishith Desai Associates <\/strong>on the other hand seemed optimistic about\nthe new system that allows people to have a private cloud over their private\ninformation to access which the third party companies need permission from\nthem. He also suggested the usable privacy projects that can be helpful for\ndata protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The later sessions of the day discussed about\nartificial intelligence transforming legal profession, the much awaited sport\nlaw in India and alternative dispute resolution.
