Jindal Global University (JGU) has been ranked in the QS ASIA University Rankings 2019, an annual publication of university rankings in the region that identifies the leading universities in a particular subject. This is a huge achievement for the university, which in its nine years of existence has been recognized as a world class educational institution; leaving a mark on the world map. ranked among the top 450 universities in Asia, which puts JGU in the top 3% in the region that consists of more than 13,000 universities in total.

Typically, 46 countries (and
regions) in Asia are taken into consideration in the ranking of Asian
universities. Much like the BRICS rankings, we are the youngest
Indian university in the QS Asia University Rankings 2019 and one of the few universities dedicated to the study and research
of the social sciences, arts and humanities.

JGU continues to be the
youngest Indian University to feature in these rankings. In QS Asia University
Rankings 2019, 505 institutions were ranked, out of which 92 are new entrants.
The ranking process is quite stringent. QS uses eleven indicators to
compile the ranking, a global survey of 83,877 academics and 42,862 recruiters.

Recently, the
university has been ranked as the youngest Indian University in the QS BRICS University Rankings
2019 across five major countries that comprise the BRICS group (Brazil,
Russia, India, China and South Africa), wherein nearly 9,000 universities meet
minimum ranking criteria.

On achievement this milestone, Founding
Chancellor and benefactor of JGU, Mr. Naveen Jindal said, ‘This is a
proud moment for JGU as well India. It is time for India to join ranks with world
class universities and improve the academic environment for our students. A big
stepping stone in JGU’s short journey of nine-years to attain this status, as
we relentlessly strive to build world-class universities through comparative and
international dimensions”.

Professor(Dr.) C.
Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU said, ‘It has always been our
aspiration to achieve excellence, while benchmarking ourselves with the leading
institutions around the world. We were of course, mindful of the fact that we
are a non-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and non-Medicine
university with focus on humanities and social sciences and a few professional
schools (law and architecture). Since the early days of our founding, many
well-meaning individuals in India and around the world told us that we
shouldn’t aspire to be recognized in international rankings such as QS as we
are way too young, small and significantly limited in terms of
academic disciplines. At some level, they were right to make this point as
universities, which are old, large and which have STEM disciplines and Medicine
dominate the international rankings’.

Professor Raj Kumar,
added, ‘I would like to thank Mr. Naveen Jindal, our Founding Chancellor and
benefactor, for the faith, trust and support that he has reposed in us.
Even during the most difficult times, he has supported us with a
sense of purpose and courage of conviction that is rare among leaders. I
hope our students and alumni are inspired by our
Chancellor’s philanthropy and commitment to higher education as
they accomplish themselves in their professional pursuits and make a
mark in their own careers and lives’. I would like to congratulate the Deans of
all the Schools of JGU for their exemplary leadership in maintaining a
strong faculty-student ratio as well as attracting international faculty from
across the world. Between our NAAC “A” accreditation, our performances at the
Swachhta Rankings, at QS BRICS University Rankings and now QS Asia
University Rankings. At this stage, I cannot help but reflect upon all
that we have achieved in. These achievements are evidence that our
commitment to our vision and mission for excellence in higher education has not
waned. Now, in our tenth year, we renew our commitment and pledge to our vision
and mission.

About O.P. Jindal
Global University:

O.P.
