  {"id":1271,"date":"2017-10-30T12:22:28","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T12:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/?p=1271"},"modified":"2019-11-07T05:32:55","modified_gmt":"2019-11-07T05:32:55","slug":"jindal-stanford-hosts-joint-study-on-law-of-democracy-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/2017\/10\/30\/jindal-stanford-hosts-joint-study-on-law-of-democracy-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Jindal \u2013Stanford Hosts Joint Study on Law of Democracy \u2013 India"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SonIpat, 30th March, 2017: Jindal Global University along with Stanford University jointly holds a field study programme in India from 26th March 2017-1st April 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The field study &nbsp;included visits to Rashtrapati Bhawan ( Office\nof the President of India), visit to the Supreme Court of India, Interactive\nSessions with Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Member of Parliament (Lok\nSabha) and Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs,\nChairman and Members of Law Commission of India, Secretary, Ministry of Law and\nJustice, Government of India, Election Commissioners at the Election Commission\nof India, and Chairman\/ Member of the Central Information Commission of India\nrespectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The four-day session included visit to the\nParliament of India and a joint lecture by Prof. Ben Ginsberg organised by OP\nJindal Global University and the Indian Law Institute. Students participated in\nan international conference on \u201cTHE LAWS AND LIVES OF DEMOCRACIES:&nbsp; <em>Elections, Representation and\nAccountability in India and US\u201d <\/em>held at the O.P Jindal Global University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Benjamin L Ginsberg, Stanford\nLecturer, Partner, Jones Day Law Firm at Indian Law Institute delivering his distinguish\nlecture spoke about Donald Trump and his mandate vis-\u00e0-vis United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Ginsberg said, \u201cTrump considers\nsocial media is an enemy, a rival in United States. We have seen a change the\nway political agenda get set every day. Off course, if you live by the tweet\nyou can get burnt by the tweet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further adds, \u201cPeople in the united states and\naround the world have two very different views of Donald Trump. From the Trump administration\nside, they believe that they are historic and are really fighting to put in\nplace the much needed changes, they believe they are off to the best start in\nthe history of any presidency. In case you do not like Donald Trump, you are\nlikely to see the distractions, immigration bans, the fights that he has picked\nwith US senators and retailers journalists, judges and so on. And that is the\npart of divided America that he needs to try and deal with it\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference seeks to examine topics on Representation,\nConstituencies, Election Finance, Rhetoric and Speech in a comparative\nperspective.
