The entrepreneurs are part of the second batch of Tibetan entrepreneurs supported as part of the Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development initiative (TED) and incubated by JSiE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TED\nis&nbsp;an\ninitiative of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA)&nbsp;located\nin Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. The development program is part of an effort\nto reinvigorate and empower the Tibetan community in India and aims to be the\nchange agent in helping potential Tibetan entrepreneurs and businesses towards\nbecoming competitive, sustainable and impact-oriented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsecond batch of entrepreneurs are launching startups across India in various\nsectors such as fashion, food-delivery and dairy farming. A common thread among\nall entrepreneurs is their motivation to preserve Tibetan culture and introduce\nit to other communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jampa\nTendar, cofounder of Keraa, said of his startup \u201cour aim is to develop a new\nglobal fashion line based in Tibetan culture.\u201d Tenzin Rigdol, cofounder of\nBreakfastwala, described his motivation to \u201ccreate employment opportunities for\nevery Tibetan so he could help reduce unemployment in Tibetan settlements\nacross India.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Startup<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Founder<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Business<\/strong>\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Keraa\n  <\/td><td>\n  Jampa Tendar\n  <\/td><td>\n  Fashion line and manufacturer of\n  Tibetan traditional dress located in Dehradun&nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Tibet Dairy Farm\n  <\/td><td>\n  Tenzin Tselake\n  <\/td><td>\n  Organic Dairy Farm located in Odisha\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Breakfastwala\n  <\/td><td>\n  Tenzin Rigdol\n  <\/td><td>\n  Breakfast food delivery startup\n  operating South Delhi\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Mountain Girl Design\n  <\/td><td>\n  Tenzin Youdon\n  <\/td><td>\n  Fashion design business located in\n  South Delhi\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p>After\nbeing competitively selected by the Tibetan government-in-exile, the\nentrepreneurs attended the five week residential pre-incubation training\nprogram on the campus of O. P. Jindal Global University in June.&nbsp; Each\nentrepreneur participated in group workshops and individualized training from\nthe JSiE team and University faculty members. Core modules of training included\nlean startup methodology, digital skills training, business model canvas,\npitching sessions, startup finance, and legal startup requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After\ncompleting the program the entrepreneurs gathered in Dharamsala for a business\nplan competition organized by the Tibetan Government-in-exile. A jury of expert\njudges provided advice and worked with the CTA to set milestones\nwhich&nbsp;will&nbsp;be linked to seed investment awarded to each of\nentrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nentrepreneurs will continue to receive mentoring support from the Central\nTibetan Administration and join the now growing community of Tibetan\nentrepreneurs living in India.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of the\nprogram, Jeremy Wade, Associate Director, Jindal Centre for Social Innovation\n&amp; Entrepreneurship, said, &#8220;Tibetan entrepreneurs can create\nsignificant economic and social impact in their communities. &nbsp;Supporting\nthem helps create an economically self-reliant Tibetan community in India, and\nin turn, helps preserve the unique and compassion based Tibetan cultural\nheritage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsuccessful completion of the pre-incubation programme for Tibetan entrepreneurs\nfor a second consecutive year is a step towards fulfilling the Jindal Centre\nfor Social Innovation &amp; Entrepreneurship\u2019s (a private, University-based\nincubator) social mission to support inclusive growth and development across\nIndia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier\nthis year, JSiE joined the&nbsp;UBI Global Incubation Impact\n&amp; Network which consists of 400 data driven, entrepreneurial centric,\nincubation programs from over 70 countries,&nbsp;in partnership with Cisco\nCorporate Affairs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sonipat&nbsp;July 15, 2016&nbsp;: After completing &#8220;pre-incubation&#8221; training from the Jindal Centre for Social Innovation &amp; Entrepreneurship (JSiE), 91Ì½»¨, four Tibetan entrepreneurs recently received funding to launch their startup businesses.
