Prof. Krishna Deo Singh Chauhan, Associate Director of the Centre, participated as a panellist in a session on ‘AI and Higher Education’ at Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), Delhi, as part of a national seminar on ‘Inclusive AI Development: Building Ethical, Accessible, and Equitable Futures.’ In his presentation, Prof. Chauhan highlighted that while AI is already making significant contributions to inclusion in education, constructive scrutiny of the landscape remains essential. Prof. Chauhan drew attention to AI-powered tools 鈥� from adaptive learning platforms to automated proctoring systems 鈥� that are deployed across Indian institutions, often without inclusion-specific governance frameworks. He noted that such systems can systematically disadvantage students with disabilities, whether through proctoring AI that flags atypical eye movement, detection tools that disproportionately affect non-standard writing patterns, or adaptive platforms that misclassify neurodiverse learners. The Centre remains committed to advancing research and policy discourse that ensures AI in education serves all learners inclusively.
