Team SLAM (Student Learning Assessment Model) was recognised as a finalist at the Inria France AI International Grand Challenge 2026, an international platform focused on advancing innovation at the intersection of artificial intelligence and education. The team’s proposal, “AI in Re-imagining Assessment: The Situated Learning Assessment Model (SLAM)”, addressed the growing challenges faced by traditional assessment frameworks in higher education in the context of generative AI. The work examined how existing evaluation methods are increasingly being undermined by the ability of AI systems to generate sophisticated academic outputs and proposed a rethinking of assessment as a more context-driven and adaptive process. The team comprised Akshit Mathur, Kashish Goel, Keertika Saini, Sarang Phulwaria, and Vaibhav Kumar from Jindal Global Law School, under the mentorship of Prof. Spriha Bhandari and Prof. Paavni Jain. The recognition highlights ongoing efforts to engage with emerging challenges in AI and education through student-led research and innovation.
