The Centre, in collaboration with the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) at JGLS, hosted a guest lecture featuring experts from CADRE ODR on the theme ‘Designing the Future of Dispute Resolution: Rethinking ODR from a System Design Lens.’ The session was delivered by Ms. Kanchan Gupta, Co-Founder of CADRE ODR and a recipient of the Elevate 2023 Karnataka Startup Award, and Ms. Shubhangi Bhargava, Head of Law, Policy and Advocacy at CADRE ODR. The session was moderated by Prof. Ashiv Choudhary. Through an interactive walkthrough of an ODR platform, participants gained insight into how disputes move through digital workflows. A particularly compelling takeaway was the observation that technology is never neutral – each design choice influences behaviour and outcomes. The discussion also emphasised that effective ODR systems must balance technological innovation with legal enforceability and resilient infrastructure. The session was well received by students and underlined the importance of equipping future legal professionals with the skills needed for a technology-driven landscape.
