Prof. Nikhil Naren, Assistant Director at the Centre, has been invited by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), Election Commission of India, to contribute to a practitioner-oriented online certificate course on Artificial Intelligence, Elections, and Democratic Governance. The contribution focuses on themes of law, regulation, and democratic safeguards, covering key frameworks such as the EU AI Act, UNESCO and OECD guidelines, and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. It also examines safeguards for the use of AI in electoral contexts, engaging a global audience of policymakers and practitioners. The engagement aligns with India’s 2026 Chairship of International IDEA, contributing to ongoing efforts to build inclusive, resilient, and sustainable democratic systems in the age of artificial intelligence.
