Prof. Nikhil Naren, Assistant Director at the Centre, was invited to conduct induction training for Civil Judge (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate First Class Officers on the topics of ‘Artificial Intelligence and Law’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property’ at the Maharashtra Judicial Academy (MJA). The invitation was extended by Shri Uday B. Shukla, Joint Director, MJA, and former Principal Secretary and Senior Legal Advisor, Government of Maharashtra, after reading Prof. Naren’s book, which is among the first works by Indian authors on the subject. Prof. Naren is among the youngest external experts to deliver training at the MJA. The sessions were designed to build foundational and applied understanding of AI concepts and their legal implications among newly inducted judicial officers, a vital contribution at a time when AI tools are increasingly entering India’s court infrastructure. The Centre remains committed to capacity-building initiatives that prepare the judiciary for an AI-integrated legal landscape.
