Prof. Spriha Bhandari and Prof. Paavni Jain from the Centre participated in the ‘Mind the Bot – Designing AI for Child Safety’ workshop, which formed part of the Youth in the Loop pre-summit event hosted by Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC) in collaboration with The Quantum Hub (TQH), ahead of the AI Summit. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to engage directly with young people on how they see, interact with, and integrate AI into their daily lives. A central takeaway was the urgent need for parents and the older generation to become more tech-literate, recognising that safe AI use for children cannot rely on restrictions alone but requires informed guidance and open intergenerational dialogue. The workshop also offered insight into the guardrails and safety measures being developed by platforms including Google and Snap to better protect young users while respecting their agency.
