Prof. Nikhil Naren and Prof. Spriha Bhandari, Assistant Directors at the Centre, participated in a multi-stakeholder roundtable hosted by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in partnership with the ProductNation/iSPIRT Foundation and the Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI). The roundtable examined India’s institutional, technical, and legal preparedness for the techno-legal regulation of AI, bringing together policymakers, technologists, academics, and practitioners. Prof. Bhandari contributed to the discussion by highlighting India’s urgent need for a shared, operational taxonomy for AI systems and risks 鈥� a foundation without which coherent regulation becomes difficult to design and implement. The roundtable forms part of the ongoing preparatory work ahead of the AI Summit.
