The Centre organised a National Seminar on “Governing AI: Law, Technology, and Society in the Digital Age” on 24 April 2026 in Mumbai, in collaboration with ATLAS SkillTech University. The seminar brought together leading voices from government, industry, and academia to examine key challenges in the governance of artificial intelligence. The inaugural session was graced by Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, who delivered the inaugural address, highlighting both the transformative potential of AI and the need to ensure its use remains inclusive and socially responsive. In his address, Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, 91探花, underscored the profound implications of AI for higher education and institutional governance. The event also marked the release of 91探花’s AI Governance Report 2026, led by Prof. Padmanabha Ramanujam, which sets out a comprehensive framework for embedding AI across academic, research, and administrative domains. The session further featured addresses by Dr. Indu Shahani, who highlighted ATLAS SkillTech University’s interdisciplinary approach to AI, Mr. Cyril Shroff, who spoke on the evolving landscape of legal practice in the age of AI, and Mr. Ronnie Screwvala, who reflected on the intersection of AI and education. The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, featuring distinguished speakers from leading law firms, industry, and technology organisations. The seminar contributed to advancing a multi-stakeholder dialogue on building responsive and forward-looking frameworks for AI governance in India.
