Prof. Nikhil Naren, Assistant Director at the Centre, participated in a panel discussion on “How AI is Escalating Information Warfare” on the occasion of International Fact-Checking Day. The session examined the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping the creation, amplification, and strategic deployment of information, with a focus on emerging challenges relating to misinformation, disinformation, and digital trust. The discussion brought together perspectives from technology, fact-checking, investigative journalism, and AI governance. Prof. Naren was joined by co-panellists including Ms. Mahsa Alimardani (WITNESS), Mr. Rakesh Dubbudu (Factly), and Ms. Saja H. Mortada (Arab Fact-Checkers’ Network). The session contributed to ongoing conversations on addressing information integrity challenges in an increasingly AI-driven digital ecosystem.
