Prof. Nikhil Naren, Assistant Director at the Centre, participated in a closed-door brainstorming session organised by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) as part of the BRICS Civil Forum 2026 under India’s BRICS Chairship. Convened by RIS under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the session focused on the theme 鈥淒evelopmental Impact of AI and Advanced/Emerging Technologies.鈥� The discussion brought together experts to examine the opportunities and governance challenges presented by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, while considering their broader developmental implications. Participants deliberated on how collaborative approaches within the BRICS framework can support responsible innovation, informed policymaking, and technology governance. The engagement reflects the Centre’s continued contribution to policy discussions on AI governance and emerging technologies at both national and international forums.
