The Centre hosted a full day of high-impact sessions with PAIRS (the Participatory AI Research and Practice Symposium) and the UNESCO Global Civil Society Organisations and Academic Network. The programme comprised three distinct events hosted at the JGU International Academy: a PAIRS Roundtable on Transparency, Law and Participatory AI; the PAIRS Opening Plenary Session; and a UNESCO Panel on Widening Civic Participation in AI Governance. The events brought together over 30 researchers and experts from institutions including Chatham House, the University of Cambridge, Sciences Po, the University of California, Berkeley, and several leading policy organisations and think tanks from more than five countries. The sessions created a focused space for rigorous exchange on participatory approaches to AI governance, with particular emphasis on transparency standards, community-accessible documentation, and civic participation models that go beyond one-time consultations.
