JIBS holds Financial Crime Awareness Week

The Centre for Criminology and Forensic Studies at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) held the first edition of the Financial Crime Awareness Week from October 16 to 20. The event aimed at broadening the understanding of financial crime and exploring the latest research in financial crime prevention and investigation.
A panel discussion, research paper presentation and poster presentation were held as a part of the Financial Crime Awareness Week. The events aimed at exploring the latest research in financial crime prevention and investigation, presented by experts and scholars in the field, and discovering visually captivating presentations showcasing various aspects of financial crime and its impact on society.


Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Director with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, delivered a guest lecture on 鈥楥yber unsafe: Preventive Measures For Computer Frauds and Cyber Crime鈥. Drawing from his vast and enriching experience, Dr. Gupta explained numerous aspects of cybercrime that affect us daily. With our extreme dependency on the internet, he explained the scope of cybercrime has widened that calls for extra security on our part. He elaborated on various practices which can help us against this issue.
Dr. Gaurav Gupta is the first Indian to earn a doctorate in the field of digital forensics. He was bestowed with the Young Scientist Award of the Indian Science Congress in 2010 by the Man of Science, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He has mentored and guided many research students and interns and has 20 years of experience. He is the author of the bestseller book 鈥淐yber Unsafe鈥.
Inaugural JIBS Film Festival organised

The JIBS Film Festival was conducted by the Jindal institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) from October 9 to October 11. The JIBS Film Festival (JFF) is a creative platform that brings together the realms of cinema, psychology, behavioural sciences, and mental health. Aligned with the spirit of World Mental Health Day, the three-day festival was organised with the aim to create meaningful conversations through the art of visual storytelling. The three-day film festival featured films by various independent filmmakers on the themes of mental health, discrimination and stigma.
The film festival was inaugurated by the Registrar of JGU, Prof. Dabiru S. Patnaik. The inauguration was marked by the release of 鈥淯ljhan鈥, an in-house production of the JIBS. Documenting societal misconceptions and confronting stigmas, 鈥淯ljhan鈥 captures the relentless battle these families wage on behalf of their cherished ones.
The film explores a mother鈥檚 emotional journey, a family鈥檚 intense struggle, and relentless efforts by ground-level non-profit organisations to destigmatise autism. Shot, conceptualised, and edited internally at JIBS, the film also tries to demystify autism鈥檚 complexities, granting viewers a profound understanding of the spectrum and the challenges associated with it.
Three films by various independent filmmakers were showcased on second day of the film festival. Each film revolved around the topic of mental health, stigma and different discriminatory practices prevalent in society. The films included 鈥榃omen in Red鈥, 鈥楪uilt Trip鈥 and 鈥楧aakan鈥. Each screening was followed by a discussion about the film and the issue it dealt with.
鈥榁iral鈥, a fictional film highlighting different aspects of social media and its influence on people鈥檚 lives, was screened on the final day of three-day film festival. The film festival concluded with the screening of JIBS鈥 in-house production 鈥楾ouch Me Not鈥, which revolves around the issue of bad touch and its consequences on the victim.
School talk for students held in Nepal
JIBS organised a School Talk for the students across many institutions in Nepal on October 5. These talks were held in Manaslu World College, New Summit School, Kathmandu, and Universal, Kathmandu. Around 280 students took part in these talks.
They were conducted by Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder and Principal Director at JIBS, and Prof. (Dr.) Pulkit Khanna, Executive Dean at JIBS. They spoke about stress management and its importance in performance enhancement. They also spoke about the emerging trends and career opportunities in humanities and social sciences.
JIBS conducts Transformative Lectures
Transformative Talks is an initiative by the JIBS towards bridging the gap between the theoretical and the industrial realms of psychology, academia, and research.
Ms. Suryasree. K, Psychologist at Mindful Kids, delivered a talk on 鈥楳indfulness and Resilience: Practices from improved Well-Being鈥. Drawing from her vast experience, Ms. Suryasree explained how mindfulness and resilience practices can greatly benefit students once equipped with essential tools to manage stress, enhance focus, and build emotional strength both in academics as well as in organisation. She stated that these skills are crucial for not only academic success but also overall well-being in both their academic and personal lives. These skills, she added, empower them to navigate the demands of their academic journey with greater ease and maintain a healthy work-life balance, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being and success.
Dr. Charru Sharma, Associate Professor of Human Development and Childhood Studies at Delhi University, delivered a talk on 鈥楨xpressions for Mindfulness鈥. The session involved numerous activities including dancing sessions aimed at understanding various aspects of human mindfulness that can be important for one to understand him or herself.
Dr. Prabhu, Assistant Professor at IIM Bodh Gaya, conducted a session at JIBS as a part of Transformative Talks series. During the lecture, participants got an opportunity to delve into the world of performance management, understand the theories and concepts that underpin it, and explore the fascinating relationship between performance and rewards. They were acquainted with the real-world case studies and practical wisdom. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in his field, Dr. Prabhu provided attendees a chance to gain valuable insights that can shape the understanding of how organisations motivate and manage their employees.
Dr. Harshmeet, a community psychologist at Brandeis University, USA, conducted a session on 鈥楰eep Calm and Explore the Journey of a Community Psychologist鈥. Dr. Harshmeet explained how community psychologists need to work to enhance the well-being of individuals and communities by addressing social issues, promoting mental health, and fostering social change. The talk aimed at emphasising the importance of resilience, patience, and empathy required in the field of community psychology. Dr. Harshmeet encouraged participants of the session to approach this profession with a steady demeanour, even when faced with adversity.
Dr. Harshmeet shared her personal journey as a community psychologist at Brandeis University, USA. She explored the intricate tapestry of communities and the diverse factors that shape them. Understanding these dynamics is key to effective community psychology practice. She outlined the multifaceted roles of community psychologists, from conducting research and interventions to advocating for social justice and mental well-being. She also discussed the hurdles they face and the innovative solutions community psychologists have implemented to overcome them.
Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, former IAS officer, delivers talk at JIBS


As a part of the JIBS Transformative Talks Series, Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, a retired IAS officer and Former Director of LBSNAA, Mussoorie, delivered a lecture at JIBS.
The talk aimed at acknowledging the growth of India through a retrospective lens, progressing towards understanding the organisational, political, mental, and social aspects of Indian society in the current day and age. He also discussed how the youth can play a pivotal role in determining the future of our nation, with a special focus on 2047, marking the 100-year anniversary of our Independence.
Dr. Sanjeev was the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal in charge of Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department, and Director General of ATI, Kolkata. From 1996 to 2001, he was the senior deputy director and Chairman, the Faculty of Management and Coordinator of the Centre for Cooperatives and Rural Development at LBSNAA. From 2002 to 2007, he was on deputation to Uttarakhand and served as Secretary, Industrial Development, Information Technology, Rural Development and Horticulture, in the state government. He has also been a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC. Combining administrative acumen with passionate engagement and strong convictions, he has inspired batches of officer trainees, moulding them into civil servants.
Dr. Ashish Aman Sinha receives project grant under Indian Council of Social Science
Dr. Ashish Aman Sinha, Assistant Professor at JIBS, has received project grant under Indian Council of Social Science 鈥 Research grant for Short-term Empirical Research 2023-24.
The grant has been approved for the project 鈥淭he importance of including Environmental Sanitation in Sanitation Programmes: Evidence from Swachh Bharat Mission 鈥 Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha鈥.
The research will analyse the performance of Swachh Bharat through an environmental sanitation lens in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
JIBS students visit Azadpur Youth Centre

On October 5, students of M.Sc. Psychosocial Rehabilitation and faculty from JIBS visited Azadpur Youth Centre to raise mental health awareness among children from economically weaker sections of the society ahead of World Mental Health Day.
Through movement, art, and meditation, the aim was to spread mindfulness, well-being and emphasise the importance of mental health for all.
Silent Walk held by CCMH

As part of Mental Health Week, the Centre for Community Mental Health (CCMH) at JIBS held a Silent Walk around the university campus. The occasion was organised around the theme 鈥楳ental Health as a Universal Right鈥.
The walk was aimed at demonstrating unity and support for mental health awareness and fostering a compassionate community. Members of university students, staff and faculty participated in the walk.
JIBS students visit Swabhiman Kendra

Students of M.Sc. Psychosocial Rehabilitation at JIBS visited on World Mental Health Day the resilient women domestic workers of Swabhiman Kendra, Panipat. Together, they orchestrated a meaningful mental health well-being programme, hosted at the heart of compassion in the community centre run by Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) and the Marthawell Foundation.
Guided by the chapter on 鈥榃ell-Being of domestic workers in India鈥 written by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder and Principal Director of JIBS, and Prof. (Dr.) Mohita Junnarkar, Professor at JIBS, the programme analysed the essence of well-being for these unsung heroes of our society. In celebrating their spirit and acknowledging their rights, this initiative stands as a testament to the power of unity, empathy, and education in fostering a healthier and happier world for all.
JIBS students conduct a workshop on stress and anxiety management


As a part of World Mental Health Week, students from Psycho-Social Rehabilitation, under the guidance of the faculty of JIBS, conducted a workshop on 鈥楳anaging Stress and Anxiety for high school students鈥 at Bright Scholar Senior Secondary School, through games, art, and expressions. The session described how to foster and promote mental well-being, spread awareness, and share coping strategies.
JIBS and JILDEE conduct workshop for Naval officers

JIBS, in collaboration with Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education (JILDEE), organised a workshop on 鈥楤ehavioural Sciences鈥 for the Naval officers at Kochi on October 26. The workshop was held at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi and was attended by more than 100 naval officers.
The workshop was conducted by Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder and Principal Director at JIBS, and Prof. (Dr.) Pulkit Khanna, Executive Dean at JIBS. The workshop focused around the themes 鈥楳aximising Human Potential Through Behavioural Competencies鈥 and 鈥楻ole of Psychophysiology in Performance Enhancement鈥.
Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni conducts a workshop for parents

Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev. P. Sahni, Principal Director at JIBS and Vice-President of World Society of Victimology (WSV), conducted a workshop on 鈥楨ffective Parenting in Contemporary Times鈥 in Jodhpur on October 27.
The workshop was attended by around 500 parents from all over Jodhpur and was aimed at helping parents understand the nuances of bringing up their children in current times, while keeping intact the essence of both parenting and modern age. The workshop was organised by JIBS and Lions International. The workshop was a part of the JIBS鈥檚 community outreach initiative wherein it focuses on engaging common people in a dialogue and discussions about different aspects of their lives from a behavioural perspective.
鈥淧arenting is not an easy job. It is one of the determinants of our future generation. The nature and the way of parenting has an effect on the type of people in future generation. That is why I believe such a workshop and all other workshops we conduct which has an effect on behaviour of people and subsequently the next generation is important,鈥 Dr. Sahni said on the occasion.
Six-Day MID Career Training Programmes for CAG officers

JIBS, in collaboration with Jindal Institute of Leadership Development & Executive Education (JILDEE), conducted six-day Mid-Career Training Programmes for the Officers of the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of India. The programme was held from October 16 to 21.
Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder & Principal Director of JIBS, conducted a session on 鈥楶erformance Management鈥. Talking about the aspects of performance management, Dr. Sahni explained different methods of performance management. He also described the negative effects of criticism and importance of positive reinforcement.
Dr. Pulkit Khanna, Associate Professor and Executive Dean at JIBS, delivered a session on 鈥楨ffective Communication鈥, wherein she explained the need and importance of communication skills on technical issues, while also emphasising on the constructive engagement with the client organisation.
Sessions were also conducted by Dr. Sneh Kapoor, Associate Professor at JIBS, on 鈥楽DGs and the Challenge of Gender Equality鈥 and by Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair, Assistant Professor at JIBS, on 鈥楩inancial Crime鈥 and 鈥楥loud Computing鈥.
JIBS Students pay a visit to LT Foods-Daawat Rice Mill
The second-year masters students from the Industrial-Organisational Psychology cohort at JIBS visited the LT Foods-Daawat Rice Mill as part of their second industry visit.
Spanning across a vast campus of 65 acres, this factory is the central point of processing, packaging and distribution of Basmati rice. The students were taken on a comprehensive tour around the facilities where they were informed about how the paddy is transformed into Basmati rice from procurement to export.
After the tour, the students spoke with the senior HR Manager, who described the key processes of human resource management to them, followed by an interaction with an HR officer who explained the history of the organisation, the branches and their functions and the product line. He also answered queries and questions raised by the students about concepts like compensation and benefits, hiring practices, policies, etc.
The industry visit concluded with a brief visit to an in-house outlet where the students were given samples of a unique line of snack products.
JIBS students conduct a workshop at Green Valley School, Sonipat

The students of MSc Psycho-Social Rehabilitation at JIBS organised a workshop focused on understanding various types of learning difficulties and the diverse spectrum of learners for the teachers at Green Valley School, Sonipat.
The workshop emphasised the importance of tailored approaches to education and the significance of fostering an inclusive learning environment for the different types of learners. The students assisted the teachers in understanding how different types of learners benefit from different mediums of teaching and how it can be seamlessly incorporated into their current methods. The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Amrita Roy, Assistant Professor at JIBS.
Dr. Sneh Kapoor conducts workshop
Dr. Sneh Kapoor, Associate Dean (Research Innovation and Outreach), JIBS, conducted a workshop for the staff of the Delhi head office of Freedom Employability Academy (FEA). The two-hour session provided the FEA team with insights into the power of effective communication.
The workshop described the essential aspects of communication, including defining objectives, honing techniques for more effective communication, and recognising its pivotal role in the workplace. The workshop highlighted the importance of avoiding judgment, fostering the ability to see from different perspectives, and utilising communication as an important tool to improve performance and foster a great culture at work.
