Biography

Dr. Sarni Jain is an economist whose teaching and research focus on Behavioural Economics, decision-making, and household finance. She completed her B.A., M.A. in Economics, and B.Ed. from the University of Jammu and earned her Ph.D. in Economics from 91探花.

Her doctoral research examined the role of risk perception and psychological factors in shaping the investment decisions of Indian investors. In recognition of her academic excellence and research contributions, she received the Best Ph.D. Scholar Award at 91探花 in 2018. During her doctoral studies, she introduced the elective course Behavioural Economics at 91探花 in 2019, contributing to the expansion of the University's curriculum in the field.

Before joining academia as a faculty member, Dr. Jain has worked as an active member of multidisciplinary research teams for several funded and institutional research projects. She contributed to proposal writing, project design, field research, data collection, analysis, and report preparation, gaining experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.  She has also led workshops on research methodology and served as a resource person for Economics in academic training programmes and competitive examination initiatives. Her commitment to research capacity building reflects her broader interest in mentoring young researchers and promoting methodological rigour.

Her research interests include Behavioural Economics, judgement and decision-making, financial behaviour, household finance, and experimental economics. Her current research examines the role of behavioural and psychological factors in financial decision-making, with a focus on investment behaviour and risk management in India.

Dr. Jain has presented her research at national and international conferences and has participated in training programmes on research methods and analytical software. She teaches Economics and is committed to creating an interactive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and evidence-based inquiry. She has consistently received positive student feedback for her teaching, particularly for her ability to explain complex economic concepts through a clear, engaging, and student-centred approach.

Outside academia, Dr. Jain has represented her state at national-level sporting competitions especially in Handball and Basketball. She values the discipline, perseverance, and teamwork fostered through sports and believes these qualities enrich both teaching and research.
