Agnidipto Tarafder is Professor of Law at Jindal Global Law School and Director of the Centre for Public Interest Law (CPIL). Prior to joining Jindal Global Law School, he served as Assistant Professor at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) from 2017 to 2023, his alma mater. He holds Master's degrees from the WBNUJS, Kolkata and Harvard Law School. He completed his undergraduate studies also from WBNUJS (2008-13) and received a gold medal for Constitutional Law.
Agnidipto's teaching and research focus on constitutional governance, law and technology, digital privacy, and public law. His work on data governance has also informed public policy: he testified before the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019. He has collaborated on research projects with leading public policy institutions and think tanks, including the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) and the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, and has undertaken collaborative research with scholars at institutions such as Cornell University and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
His scholarship has appeared in leading academic journals, including the Oxford Human Rights Hub Journal, Economic and Political Weekly, Constitutional and Administrative Law Quarterly, and the NUJS Law Review. He also writes for a wider public audience, with opinion pieces published in The Times of India, The Hindu, The Wire, The Statesman, and Anandabazar Patrika.
