Prof. Manasi Kumar is a Professor at Jindal Global Law School, 91探花, where she teaches foundational contract law and a self-designed, highly popular elective on commercial contract drafting — one of the most consistently sought-after courses at JGLS. Prior to entering academia, she worked as a commercial dispute resolution attorney with well-known law firms in India and the United States, where she was admitted to the Oregon state bar. She had a diverse commercial practice spanning construction, oil and gas, government procurements, insurance, and maritime law.
Her research focuses on Indian contract law, private law methodology, and comparative contract law in the common law world. She is Managing Editor of the Jindal Global Law Review, published by Springer Nature and indexed in Scopus. She is also an affiliate of the Relational Construction Law Collaborative (RCLCresearch.com), an international research network engaged in scholarship and academic programming on relational contracting.
In 2020, she received the 91探花 Research Excellence Award. Her doctoral thesis on objectivity and contextualism in the Indian law of contracts (Deakin University) has been submitted for external examination.
