Biography

Stuti Lal is a Assistant Professor  and Ph.D. Scholar at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), where her scholarship bridges the gap between emerging technology, performer rights, environmental governance, and legal education reform. Her research explores how legal systems adapt to rapid technological, socio-economic, and environmental shifts—ranging from performers’ and singers' royalties in the digital age to climate justice and labor rights at the margins.

Prof. Lal completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Technology Laws at 91探花, writing her dissertation on the legal evolution of performers' royalty rights. She holds a B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna. Consistently ranking in the top 5% of her batch across her legal studies, she earned the Savitri Jindal Merit Scholarship and the Dean's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Academic Initiatives.

An active scholar, editor, and academic coordinator, Prof. Lal served as Guest Editor for a Special Issue of the Jindal Global Law Review (Springer) focused on Natural Resources Law and Management, and was the Conference Coordinator for the South Asian Postgraduate Law Conference (2023). Her peer-reviewed research appears in Scopus-indexed platforms—including IEEE Xplore, Springer, and SAGE—covering digital IP challenges, resource governance in the Anthropocene, and integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into legal curricula.

She has actively hosted national and regional academic forums, including the Deconstructing Environmental Justice Webinar Series organized by the Centre for Environmental Law and Climate Change (CELCC). At JGLS, she supervises LL.M. dissertations for postgraduate scholars specializing in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Beyond classroom instruction and thesis supervision, she actively mentors students and adjudicates national competitions, including serving as an adjudicator for the 1st CNLU National Mediation Competition (2023) and various moot court competitions.
