IIHEd organises events

Dr. L. N. Venkataraman, Associate Professor, International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building (IIHEd), delivered a lecture on April 30 titled 'The Capability Approach: Conceptualisation and Relevance to Higher Education'.

The presentation examined the dominance of the human capital paradigm and introduced the Capability Approach developed by Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum as a robust normative alternative that reconceptualises higher education as a capability-enhancing public good. The session highlighted the framework's continuing relevance for rethinking equity, justice, and human development within institutional policy and practice.

Lecture on Implementation of NEP 2020

On May 7, Professor Saumen Chattopadhyay of Jawaharlal Nehru University delivered a lecture at IIHEd titled 'Repurposing Higher Education in the Wake of the Implementation of the NEP 2020: An Analysis of the Union Budget 2026'.

The session examined how fiscal priorities shape institutional transformation, framing the Union Budget as a political and economic instrument that influences the classification of higher education as a public or merit good. The discussion covered key themes such as the relationship between autonomy and accountability, university rankings, and structural inequalities in human capital formation, highlighting the implications of fiscal governance for equity and quality in the current Indian educational landscape.
