JGU welcomes Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellows
In June, JGU welcomed to its campus a diverse cohort of the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (NJYGRF) 2026-27. The nearly 130 Fellows represented 26 countries and more than 70 universities.
Established in honour of Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chancellor of JGU, whose visionary leadership, commitment to nation-building, and unwavering belief in the transformative power of education continue to inspire generations, the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship has emerged as one of the most distinctive and impactful global research initiatives hosted by an Indian university. The 2026-27 cohort stands as a testament to JGU's growing reputation as a global destination for scholarship, research, and academic collaboration.
The fellowship is far more than a research programme. It is an immersive intellectual experience that enables scholars to become part of JGU's dynamic ecosystem of teaching, research, innovation, policy engagement, and global partnerships. Fellows had the opportunity to interact with leading academics, collaborate across disciplines, participate in seminars and conferences, engage with research centres and institutes, and build lifelong professional relationships with fellow scholars representing diverse intellectual traditions and perspectives.
The scholars selected for this year's fellowship came from an extraordinary range of countries, universities, and professional backgrounds, bringing with them diverse experiences, perspectives, and research interests. This international diversity substantially strengthens JGU's global academic ecosystem and creates opportunities for sustained international collaboration and partnership building.

This represents an extraordinary growth of over 251% in just one year, making NJYGRF one of the fastest-growing international fellowship programmes hosted by an Indian university. It had a gender-balanced participation with strong representation of women scholars.
