JGU Climate Action Plan 2025

The JGU Climate Action Plan 2025 sets out how the university will reduce its emissions, prepare for climate risks and build climate knowledge among students, staff and the wider community. It is published on the university website, where it is open to local government bodies, community groups, partner organisations and the public.

What the Plan Covers

  1. NGO collaborations: working with non-governmental organisations on climate and environmental work.
  2. SDGs in academic programmes: bringing the Sustainable Development Goals into the curriculum.
  3. Staff awareness and training: a mandatory sustainability training programme for all staff.
  4. Interdisciplinary research: research on climate and environment across schools.
  5. Research collaboration: partnerships with institutions in India and abroad.
  6. Campus sustainability: solar energy, waste management, water conservation and green cover.
  7. Transportation: electric golf carts, e-bikes and charging points, with the fleet decarbonised by 2027.
  8. Efficient building standards: energy-efficient design and construction.

Progress
JGU measures its emissions under the GHG Protocol, has set a net zero goal for 2035, and reports progress each year in the Sustainable Development Report.
