At JGU, we believe that lasting energy savings come from informed people as much as efficient buildings. We bring the community together through public seminars, expert lectures and student-led events that put clean energy and climate action at the centre of campus conversation. We host these discussions openly, so that ideas on India’s energy future can be shared widely.
Open Lecture on India’s Energy Transition
On 5 March 2025, the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy hosted researchers from the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Karthik Ganesan, Tarun Mehta and Shruti Gauba, for an open lecture on India’s energy transition. The speakers discussed growth, emissions, and supply-chain opportunities in the transition, and the session was held in person at the Imaginarium, Savitri Jindal Faculty Office Block.
Sharing Our Progress
In May and June 2025, our Sustainable Development Report, which brings together our solar capacity, emissions work and climate commitments, was launched at the Mumbai Sustainability Conclave and presented at the India-Japan Higher Education Forum in Tokyo. Sharing our results in this way invites other institutions to learn from our experience and holds us accountable for our targets.
Public Seminar on India’s Decarbonization Strategy
The Centre for Environment, Sustainability and Human Development (CESH) at the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities hosted a public seminar titled “India’s Decarbonization Strategy: Progress and Challenges”. It explored the country’s path towards a low-carbon future through renewable energy, electric vehicles, and efficiency and demand reduction.
Earthly
Earthly, a sustainability event organised by The Final Stand and the Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability (JSES) student council, is a student-led festival held in April every year for everyone who cares about the planet. It brought sustainability into campus life through hands-on activities, local sustainable businesses and creative expression. Following are some other activities that our university organises:
| Activity | Date and time |
| Gardening Workshop | 22 April, 10 AM to 12 noon |
| Sustainable Businesses and Food Stalls | 22 and 23 April, 3 PM to 11 PM |
| Photo Exhibition | 22 and 23 April, 3 PM to 11 PM |
| Flower Sales and Love Notes to Nature | 23 April, 5 PM to 11 PM |
Advocacy in Everyday Campus Life
Advocacy also happens in daily routines. Our hostel appliance-use policy encourages residents to use energy thoughtfully, and the results of our annual greenhouse gas inventory and energy audits keep the community informed about how the campus is performing.
