Tracking Applications of Underrepresented Groups

JGU is committed to a diverse, multicultural student body. The university monitors application and acceptance rates of students from marginalised communities in India and abroad, so that its outreach and support respond to how each group actually moves through the admissions process.

Groups Tracked

  • Ethnic minorities
  • Low-income students
  • Non-traditional students
  • Women
  • LGBT students
  • Disabled students
  • Newly settled refugee students

How Applications Are Tracked

The Admissions team manages the full application and admissions process for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes on Meritto, an education CRM platform. The system captures more than 100 data points for every application. This allows the team to follow application, acceptance and entry rates of women candidates, and of the other groups listed above, across programmes and cycles.

How the Data Is Used

  • To identify groups whose applications or acceptances are lower than expected, and to target outreach accordingly.
  • To plan counselling, mentoring and academic support for admitted students.
  • To report to the Anti-Discrimination Committee and university leadership.

All applicant data are handled confidentially and used only for admissions, support and institutional reporting.
