JGU is a fully residential university in Sonipat, in the National Capital Region of Delhi. Living on campus is a central part of the JGU experience. Learning continues well beyond the classroom: in shared meals, late-night conversations, student-led societies and everyday encounters between people from many states and countries. All students live on campus in the University Halls of Residence. Many employees live on campus in university-provided housing, and most of the rest live close to the university.
The university treats safe, comfortable and affordable housing as a basic condition for learning, teaching and working well. It offers affordable on-campus accommodation to students and employees. It also provides financial support for housing, free and subsidised transport, and campus services that are open to everyone who lives on or near the campus. Together, these keep the cost of living and studying at JGU within reach for its community.
Student Housing
Halls of Residence
The University Hall of Residence is made up of several residential blocks designed by a French architect. The blocks are planned around corridors, open spaces and common rooms, which give students places to study, meet and unwind outside their rooms. Male and female students live in separate blocks. University accommodation is available to every student, so students from across India and abroad can take part fully in university life, whatever their family’s location or circumstances.
Affordable Student Accommodation
Student housing at JGU is affordable housing. Rooms are offered at affordable rates and are shared by two to four students, which keeps the cost per student low. Rooms come fully furnished, so students and their families do not have to buy furniture or set up a household. Electricity, Wi-Fi, housekeeping and security are all provided within the residences, so students face no separate utility connections, deposits or rental agreements of the kind that come with renting privately. Students who need help meeting their costs can apply for the university’s scholarships and financial aid.

Rooms and Living Spaces
The residences follow international norms. Each student is given a cot, mattress, pillow, study table, chair and cupboard, so students arrive to a room that is ready to live in. Student housing is centrally air-conditioned, which keeps rooms comfortable through Haryana’s hot summers and cold winters. Each floor has a common kitchen, and each hostel has common rooms where students can cook, gather and relax together.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi covers every room and the whole campus, including the residences, the academic blocks and the library. Students can study, research and stay in touch with family from wherever they are on campus, at no extra cost.
Food and Dining
Dining halls on campus serve breakfast, lunch, an evening snack and dinner every day, including weekends. The menus include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, to suit the dietary needs and preferences of a diverse student body. The food court and convenience store add further options for meals and daily essentials.
Laundry and Housekeeping
A central laundry service on campus offers washing, drying and ironing, with dry cleaning on request. Trained staff run the service. Housekeeping teams keep the residences clean, and hygiene is treated as a priority across all the halls.
Safety and Security
Student safety is of paramount importance at JGU. Trained male and female security staff guard the campus around the clock. Separate residential blocks for male and female students add a further layer of safety and privacy. The university’s Anti-Ragging Cell, Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee and Anti-Discrimination Committee help keep the residences and the wider campus safe, respectful and inclusive.
Health and Wellbeing
The Health Centre on campus has medical officers and nursing staff available 24 hours a day. They provide primary medical care and handle emergencies. A dedicated flu ward allows students with contagious illnesses to be treated under observation, which lowers the risk of infection spreading in the residences. The Office of Student Affairs supports students’ wellbeing and campus life beyond the classroom.
Everyday Convenience
An ATM near the student housing complex and a second ATM in the academic block give students easy access to cash without leaving campus.
Recreation and Green Spaces
The residences sit within landscaped grounds of lawns, shrubs and trees, which give students open, green spaces to walk, rest and meet. Students have access to a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor games, and the Naveen Jindal Sports Academy.
A Complete Campus Experience
Living on campus lets students immerse themselves fully in university life. They can take part in clubs, cultural events, sports, community engagement and research activities, and build friendships across disciplines and backgrounds that often last well beyond their time at JGU. The academic blocks, library, dining halls, sports facilities and Health Centre are all within walking distance of the residences. Students therefore pay nothing for daily travel and spend more of their time learning and taking part.
Employee Housing
Affordable Housing on Campus
The university provides affordable housing on campus for its employees. Living on campus lets faculty live close to their work at a reasonable cost, without the expense of renting privately or commuting long distances. It also brings them into the campus community. Faculty living on campus can be available to students outside formal teaching hours, which supports mentoring and the close academic community that a residential university depends on. Faculty and staff housing has Wi-Fi access, like the rest of the campus.
Housing Support
Employee compensation includes a housing allowance. This helps employees who live in their own or rented accommodation off campus meet their housing costs, so that living near the university stays affordable for those who do not live on campus.
Getting to Work from Nearby Housing
Employees who live near campus can use the staff shuttle free of charge. The shuttle runs at regular intervals throughout the week. Employees can also use subsidised transport to the nearest metro station, which links the campus to Delhi and the wider NCR. Together, these lower the cost of living near campus and the cost of commuting. They also reduce the number of private vehicles travelling to and from the university.
Campus Services for Employees
All JGU employees can use the full range of campus facilities, whether they live on campus or nearby. These include the central laundry service, the gymnasium, the Naveen Jindal Sports Academy, the Health Centre, the dining halls, the food court and convenience store, and the Global Library. Employees also benefit from campus-wide Wi-Fi, round-the-clock security and every other facility on campus. Because everyday needs such as laundry, fitness, healthcare and meals are all met on campus, employees save on costs they would otherwise pay for separately. This makes the campus a practical, affordable and well-connected place to live and work.
Our Commitment
JGU sees affordable housing as part of its wider commitment to the wellbeing, inclusion and success of its community. By providing safe, well-equipped and affordable accommodation for students and employees, along with financial and transport support, the university aims to make life on and around campus affordable, comfortable and connected for everyone.
