Public Access to Green Spaces

More than 50% of JGU's 85-acre campus, 1,815,667 square feet, is maintained as green and landscaped space, with 12,000+ trees, 98 species of trees and shrubs and 42 bird species. A horticulture team of more than 90 staff maintains it, with an on-site nursery.

Visiting the Campus

The campus is open to visitors from Monday to Friday, 11 AM to 4 PM, through scheduled guided visits, so that visitors can see the green campus.

The Constitution Gardens

The Constitution Academy and Rights and Freedoms Museum building is surrounded by eight green spaces, with four more to the north and south. The design reflects India's diversity and democratic principles: vibrant colours for unity, flowing forms for inclusiveness, varied textures for adaptability and layered topography for the structure of governance. The garden covers 15,400 square feet with lawns, shrubs, palms, succulents and seasonal plants, and has more than 40 plant species.

Guided Tours for School Students

JGU works with local schools to host half-day guided tours that cover the green spaces, sports facilities and dining areas. Schools in Delhi-NCR and nearby cities are invited, and the university regularly hosts students and their families.

Accessible and Safe Green Space

Ramps, elevators with Braille signage and wheelchair-accessible electric carts make the campus accessible to visitors with disabilities. Personal motor vehicles do not enter the campus, which keeps its paths safe for walkers. The campus runs plantation drives (980 plants in two drives, with a survival rate above 80%) and a Digital Tree Tagging initiative.

Green areas

The JGU campus is open from Monday to Friday for visitors from 11 AM to 4 PM, through scheduled guided visits. We welcome our visitors to experience the lush green campus which is an attraction to many.

The Constitution Gardens

The Constitution Academy & The Rights and Freedoms Museum building is enclosed within eight green spaces, with four additional green spaces in the North and South directions. The garden is conceptualised to symbolise India’s diversity and democratic principles through vibrant colours for unity, flowing forms for inclusiveness, varied textures for adaptability, and layered topography representing the nation’s governance structure. A thoughtful design seamlessly integrates nature and constitutional values, fostering a meaningful connection encourages visitors to not just reflect, but also feel inspired to uphold these values before entering the museum. The garden covers an area of 15,400 square feet and consists of lawns, shrubs, palms, succulents, and seasonal plants.

Guided tours for school students: JGU collaborates with schools in the local community to facilitate tours for young students, providing them an opportunity to explore our campus, including the green spaces, sports facilities, dining areas and more. We regularly host a large number of interested students and their families for campus visits. As part of these thoughtfully planned half-day long guided tours, we encourage schools in Delhi-NCR and nearby cities to bring their students to visit India’s First and Only Constitution Academy situated within the JGU campus.
